907 Indigo Dyed Akoya Pearl | Milda Ring
Couldn't load pickup availability
We have upcycled Akoya pearls that would have been discarded. They have been dyed 60 times by the Hon-Aizome-Masao Studio to create a pale blue color.
A single pearl is placed in a square frame as if it is floating. The frame is decorated with pavé diamonds and white enamel. The thickness of the metal and the sharp edges of the ring make this a modern ring. The metal is made of recycled Silver 925 , and the matte finish leaves a soft luster.
Akoya Pearl
Since ancient times, it has been cherished as a symbol of motherhood, a bond of beauty, wealth and love.
ProfileIndigo dyeing studio
The dye "sukumo" made by fermenting indigo leaves for 100 days is dissolved in lye from hardwood and fermented in a large jar with bran, sweet potato , lime, lye , and sake for several days. The dye is then repeatedly dyed in the liquid. This technique, called "natural lye fermentation indigo dyeing, " was devised to allow indigo dyeing all year round in Japan, a country with four seasons. At Masumi Kobo , we are committed to preserving this "natural lye fermentation indigo dyeing" technique, which has been used since the Edo period, in Kyoto. We are also researching how we can utilize the hidden power of indigo in the recycling society that our predecessors have built up over many years.
